"AF" Frame Size- Trip Setting is Less
Also known as a Maintenance Bypass Switch (MBS) or Maintenance ByPass Switch (MBPS), the bypass can be configured in 2, 3, 4, 5 & more breaker configurations; the most critical being the "maintenance bypass breaker" (MBP), the 'bypass input breaker (BIB) & in 3 device configurations the "maintenance isolation breaker-switch" (MIS). The purpose is to electrically isolate the UPS from the critical load without disrupting or turning off power to that load. This allows all maintenance, service & inspections to be performed to the unpowered, de-energized UPS faciliting all work to be conducted with optimum safety & during any time period. In fact, an MBP allows for the complete removal & replacement of a UPS in only a few hours while the connected critical load remains operational. It is an essentail part of a "level of nine's" availability solution.
